We are proud to operate Nigeria’s first specialized equine import company, where animal welfare is the cardinal principle governing every operational decision, from stable selection to IATA-compliant air travel.

1. Protocols for Welfare Assurance

We adhere to and often exceed the highest international standards for animal transport:

• Veterinary Mandate: Every phase of transit is conducted under the strict oversight of qualified, experienced veterinarians and professional equine grooms. This includes pre-export certification, continuous health monitoring during transit, and post-arrival checks.
• Stress Mitigation: We employ specialized transport methodologies and vehicles (IATA-compliant stalls, climate-controlled environments) designed to minimize physiological and psychological stress, promoting homoeostasis throughout the journey.
• Biosecurity Fidelity: We enforce rigorous biosecurity and sanitation protocols to protect the horse’s health and prevent the risk of disease transmission during transit and quarantine.

2. Disclaimer of Inherent Risks

Despite our paradigmatic precision and best efforts, you, the Client, acknowledge that the international transportation of live animals involves inherent and unavoidable risks. These risks are related to the animal’s biological nature and the non-domesticated environment of global transit.

Pegasus Equine Freight is NOT responsible for, and disclaims all liability related to, the following inherent risks:

• Health and Illness: Risks associated with travel-related conditions such as “Shipping Fever” (pleuropneumonia), colic, or stress-induced ailments that occur despite professional care and monitoring.
• Psychological Distress: Unforeseen behavioral issues, stress, or self-inflicted injuries that may occur during confinement or adaptation to new environments.
• Acts of God/Force Majeure: Loss, injury, or delay caused by extreme weather, natural disasters, or other events entirely outside of human control.
• Pre-Existing Conditions: Any exacerbation of a known or latent pre-existing health, conformational, or behavioral condition not explicitly disclosed to Pegasus during the veterinary due diligence phase.

3. Client Responsibility and Acknowledgment

By engaging Pegasus Equine Freight, you expressly acknowledge and accept that:

• Risk Acceptance: You understand and accept the Inherent Risk associated with international equine transportation.
• Insurance Mandate: You are required to secure and maintain adequate Mortality and Transit Insurance for the full declared value of the horse to protect your financial investment against these acknowledged risks.
• Welfare is a Partnership: Upon delivery, the horse’s welfare becomes your immediate and continuous responsibility, requiring adherence to the acclimatization, nutrition, and veterinary protocols advised by Pegasus’s post-arrival consultation team.
